Clos San Quilico, Patrimonio Blanc 2019
GRAPES: 100% Vermentino
TASTING NOTES: Crisp, bright notes of lime and fresh white blossoms are ready to greet you upon pouring a glass of this Clos San Quilico Patrimonio Blanc. Crafted from 100% Vermentino grapes, this wine has the racy acidity to stand up to creamy cheeses and high-fat foods, making it the perfect wine to transition from Summer to cozy Fall dishes. Vermentino is primarily grown in Corsica, making this a wonderful example of what the varietal can do: complex and full-bodied, while still retaining its essential crisp appeal. Aromas of mouth-watering citrus fruits, herbal notes, bay leaf, and almonds are followed by lemon, lime, pear, and tropical pineapple notes. Pair with a comforting casserole or creamy mac-and-cheese.
About the Producer
Extending 35 hectares between mountains and sea, the vines of Clos San Quilico have been cultivated since the 18th century, when the cellar was built and the area’s terroir and climate were already renowned. Located in Corsica’s oldest and most well-known appellation, Patrimonio, the cellar was restructured in 1989 by the marriage of the Orenga de Gaffory and Piazza-Alessandrini families. Today, the families focus on crafting expressive & lively wines -- “living wines”, if you will. They use traditional winemaking practices and do not use fertilizers or chemical pesticides, aiming to create honest wines that depict the beautiful land from which they grow.
